"A couple of days ago, after a very very shitty day, I really needed to escape “reality” and so I decided to get lost in a world of my own, created by somebody else a long time ago, but nonetheless which I feel part of, that is the world of literature and movies.
So I ventured myself into watching the latest adaptation of “Jane Eyre”. I had seen a long long time ago William Hurt’s version, and I’d really liked it, so I wasn’t really sure if I were to like this new one, and the truth is I LOVED IT!
In my opinion I think it was captivating in every possible way… starting by the photography, the scenery, the characters and the way in which the cast portrayed them. Brilliant. Really.
Mia Wasikowska was excellent in her portrayal of Jane, maybe a bit too uptight, but her acting was flawless.
Michael Fassbender as Mr. Rochester really surprised me. That man is AMAZING! I had seen a couple of movies with him before, but I would have never thought him suitable for the role, fortunately he proved me wrong.
However I love classics, I’ve never read Jane Eyre… now that I’ve seen the film adaptions, I’m really looking forward to it because it is a truth universally acknowledged that the book is always better than the movie… so I’m thinking it must be a hell of a book. I know the Brontë sisters were not known for their cheerful characters and stories, but I do really think Jane deserves a chance.
If you haven’t seen it, give the movie a chance… it might surprise you as well!
Hope this new year brings us more lovely stories to tell, to write and to remember!
Happy new year my fellow bibliophiles!
xoxo
